Limitations of traditional online education
The continuous growth of the online education market is indeed encouraging, which relies mainly on the use of web technology and the internet to provide learners with remote educational content and guidance. Traditional online education platforms usually include features such as video lectures, online assessments, forums, and other auxiliary learning tools. The most common types of models are virtual classrooms, webinars, blended learning, MOOCs (massive open online courses), and micro-learning. However, these educational platforms and models still have limitations in terms of education resource ownership and quality, resource sharing mechanisms, personal data privacy and payment methods, personalized teaching, and learning outcome assessment, which are affecting the development, learning experience, and effectiveness of online education.
